Each visit is different depending on what your family's current needs are and what would be most helpful that day. I tell every family that I work with that my main objectives are to make sure you have slept, eaten, and showered while i’m there — everything else will fall into place.
A typical daytime visit might include:
Check-in about how you're feeling physically and emotionally
Feeding support and education
Hands-on newborn care (bathing, diapering, soothing demonstrations)
Light household tasks while you rest or shower
Meal preparation or cleanup
Answering questions and providing resources
Sibling care if needed

While there is some overlap between the different roles, the philosophy and scope of practice differ significantly.
While baby nurses and night nurses typically focus on caring for the infant (often during nighttime hours), postpartum doulas take a holistic, family-centered approach. We support the entire family's adjustment and empower parents to care for their baby confidently.Postpartum doulas provide education and work alongside parents rather than taking over care. Our goal is to help you develop your own parenting skills and confidence, not create dependency on our services. We also support parental recovery, household functioning, and emotional wellbeing in ways that infant-focused care does not.

Yes, I am a certified postpartum doula through DONA International (Doulas of North America). DONA is the largest and most respected doula certification organization in the world, established in 1992 and recognized as the gold standard in doula training and certification.
To earn my DONA certification, I completed comprehensive training in evidence-based postpartum care, received evaluations from clients, read required books on newborn care and postpartum recovery, and committed to DONA’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. I also maintain my certification through continuing education, staying current on the latest research in postpartum support, infant feeding, newborn care, and family wellness.
DONA certification means you can trust that I’ve met rigorous professional standards and that I approach my work with expertise, ethics, and a commitment to supporting your family’s choices without judgment.

Absolutely! All families deserve compassionate, knowledgeable postpartum support regardless of how they became parents or their family structure. I support adoptive families, LGBTQ+ families, single parents, and all types of family configurations.
My care is individualized to your unique situation, and I’m committed to creating an inclusive, supportive environment for every family I partner with.

Ideally, connect with a postpartum doula during your second or third trimester of pregnancy. This allows time to meet, discuss your needs, create a support plan, and ensure availability around your due date.
However, it's never too late! Many families reach out after baby arrives when they realize they need additional support. I’m here to help whether you're planning ahead or need immediate assistance.

This varies by family. Some families benefit from a few visits in the first weeks to get oriented, while others prefer ongoing support for several weeks or months. Common arrangements include:
Short-term: 2-4 weeks of support (2-3 visits per week)
Standard: 6-8 weeks of regular visits
Extended: 12+ weeks of decreasing frequency support
We'll work together to create a support plan that fits your family's needs and can adjust as you go. Many families start with one package and extend if they find it helpful.

I specialize in daytime support, which allows me to provide focused education, hands-on guidance, and practical assistance when you need it most. While I don't offer overnight shifts, most families I work with find they're able to get quality rest during my daytime visits.
During our time together, I encourage you to nap, shower, or simply rest while I care for baby, handle household tasks, and ensure everything is running smoothly. Many parents find that having consistent daytime support helps them feel more confident and less anxious at night, which naturally improves their overall sleep quality.
-
Absolutely. I provide evidence-based breastfeeding support, including assistance with positioning and latch, troubleshooting common challenges, pumping support, and feeding schedules. While I’m knowledgeable about lactation, I am not a lactation consultant or IBCLC.
If you need specialized lactation support for medical issues like tongue ties, low supply, or persistent pain, I'll help you connect with an IBCLC. I work collaboratively with lactation professionals to ensure you get comprehensive support.
-
Yes! I support all feeding methods and truly believe “Fed is Best”. Whether you're exclusively breastfeeding, formula feeding, pumping, or combination feeding, I'll provide education, practical support, and help you establish a feeding routine that works for your family.
Every family's feeding journey is unique, and my role is to support your choices with evidence-based information and compassionate care.
