What is a

postpartum

doula?

Welcoming a new baby is a life-changing experience—beautiful, emotional, and often overwhelming. A postpartum doula is a trained professional who provides non-medical physical, emotional, and informational support to parents during the postpartum period, also known as the “fourth trimester.”

  • A listening ear, reassurance, and encouragement as you adjust to life with a newborn. Helping you to feel that you’re not alone in your experiences. Holding space for all of your feelings.

  • An extra set of hands so that you can shower, take a nap, or go for a walk by yourself. Guidance on postpartum healing, comfort measures, and referrals for extra support when needed.

  • Evidence based guidance on feeding (breast/chest/bottle), soothing techniques, diapering, bathing, and sleep routines. Helping you feel more confident and calm in your new role, and encouraging you to trust your parental instincts.

  • Light household tasks like meal prep, laundry, or tidying so you can rest, recover, and bond with your baby.

  • Helping everyone in the family adjust to their new roles and find balance. Taking some of the load off so that you can spend time with your partner or older kiddos.

Why hire a postpartum doula?

Every family deserves to feel supported, heard, and nurtured after birth. A postpartum doula fills in the gap of “the village,” offering evidence-based guidance and warm, personalized care right when you need it most. Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, each experience is different—and you don’t have to go through it alone.

Postpartum doula support can help:

    •    Reduce stress and anxiety

    •    Improve bonding and confidence

    •    Support recovery and rest

    •    Encourage successful infant feeding

    •    Create space for joy in the early days of parenting
